Responsibility for the current and future generations

Every year, huge areas of agricultural land deteriorate into desert. In countries such as Ethiopia, only three per cent of the land area is forested. The reasons for this decline are manifold and to name but a few, include water shortages, overgrazing, deforestation for urgently required firewood, population growth and climate change. All these factors result in soil exhaustion and the subsequent washing away or wind erosion of vast quantities of previously fertile land.

An important AQUITA objective is the prevention of the spread of deserts and the recovery of land for human use.

As a consequence, the retention and regeneration of soil, the revitalisation of agricultural land and support during reforestation are major company concerns.

Together with NPOs and NGOs, we wish to complete pilot projects for the poorest of the poor, in order to counteract the economic, ecological and social imbalances in third world countries.
